Puppies are hand-whelped indoors to maintain a sterile environment that minimizes exposure to pathogens and ensures the health and safety of both the mother and her puppies. This controlled setting allows for close monitoring of the birthing process and immediate care for the newborns. Beginning at three days old, early neurological stimulation is implemented. ENS involves exposing puppies to various stimuli, which can enhance their neurological development. This practice is based on research indicating that early experiences can positively affect behavior, stress tolerance, and overall adaptability in later life. Litter pan training begins at two weeks of age. By four weeks, most puppies are successfully using the litter pan consistently. This early training facilitates a smoother transition to outdoor potty training when they move to their new homes, as they have already learned basic elimination habits. By the time they reach 5 weeks of age, they are introduced to crate training, which helps them become accustomed to a safe and secure resting space. At six weeks, basic commands such as “sit” and “stay” are introduced. Teaching these commands early fosters good behavior and strengthens the bond between the puppy and its owner.
Leash training is introduced at seven weeks of age. Early leash training helps puppies learn how to walk properly on a leash, which is essential for their safety during walks and outings with their owners.
The combination of these practices ensures that puppies develop into well-adjusted dogs ready for integration into their new families. Introducing puppies to car rides from an early age is essential for their development and comfort around vehicles. This process helps ensure that they do not develop fear or anxiety associated with traveling in cars, which can be a common issue if not addressed properly. Furthermore, the puppies are dewormed at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks old to ensure optimal health and prevent any potential parasitic infestations. As part of their comprehensive healthcare regimen, they also receive their first vaccination during this period.

How do you socialize your puppies?
Each of our puppies are hand raised indoors until the day they go to their new homes. They are welped in our bedroom to ensure they have around the clock care and attention. At 2 weeks they begin noise sensory training that includes typical everyday household noises including but not limited to TVs, vacuum, other dogs, family members etc. Nail trimmings and litter pan training also begin at 2 weeks. Our puppies are exposed to a variety of surfaces, toys, and novelty items to help them with their fear/recovery response and increase their enrichment.
What does our new puppy come home with?
Puppies go home with their AKC paperwork and litter certificate as well as a large puppy pack including a bowl, toys, and a starter bag of food they are currently on. Our puppies are dewormed 4X and have their first vaccinations and paperwork to show that. Puppies begin the process of litter pan training at 2 weeks so by the time they go home at 8 weeks most are completely litter pan trained. Puppies are also extremely well socialized and desensitized. Our relationship with puppy buyers doesn't end at pick up, we are always here to offer support to new families.
How do we apply for a puppy from PNW Labradors?
You visit apply.gooddog.com/pnw-labradors-oregon to fill out an application. Once an application is received it will be reviewed. We may ask for additional screening questions to make sure our puppies are placed in their perfect homes. After an application is accepted you will be notified and be asked to place a deposit to reserve a puppy. Once a deposit is placed that puppy will be reserved for you and your family. Puppy updates and photos are sent out at least once a week! You are welcome to visit your puppy once they are 2 weeks old. Communication is always open here, please feel free to call/text/email with any questions you may have. You are now a part of our family and we value that.
What is the price of a puppy?
Due to the rising costs associated with veterinary services, vaccinations, puppy food, and other essential supplies, we find it necessary to implement a slight increase in our prices. This decision has not been made lightly; rather, it reflects the current economic landscape affecting the pet care industry. When purchasing a puppy directly from me, the price is set at $1,800. It is important to note that if you choose to use GoodDog.com for your purchase, they will apply their own pricing structure, which includes an additional markup on top of my listed price. This means that the final cost through GoodDog.com will be higher than the direct purchase price.
How do deposits work?
To secure a reservation for a puppy, a non-refundable deposit of $400 is required. This deposit serves to hold your selected puppy until it is ready to go to its new home. The payment can be made using various platforms for your convenience, including PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, or CashApp. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable except in the specific circumstance where the mother dog does not get pregnant. In such cases, the full amount of the deposit will be refunded to you. While deposits can also be processed through GoodDog.com, please be aware that this platform imposes an additional markup on top of my listed price. Therefore, if you choose to make your deposit through GoodDog.com, the total cost may exceed the standard $400 deposit.
