Described by our vet as “autistic,” Phoenix is truly one-of-a-kind. Despite his differences, he’s incredibly intelligent — he was the first of his litter to learn his name and master litter pan training! 🌟
Phoenix does have a slight head tremor, but that only adds to his unique charm. He is deeply affectionate, playful, and just wants to connect with people in his own special way. 🐾
We are looking for a nurturing and patient home that will love and celebrate Phoenix for exactly who he is — a smart, sweet, and special pup who experiences the world a little differently. 💫
He may not be ready just yet, but if you think your home could be the right match for this extraordinary little soul, we’d love to talk with you.
PNW Labradors is proud to offer military discounts to both active and retired members .We thank you for your service.
We are proud to work with Julie Tavares, DVM who comes to our home to vaccinate puppies and give them their first exam
The initial stage involves the whelping process. Our puppies are whelped indoors within a meticulously prepared, clean, and temperature-controlled environment. This allows for close supervision of the mother and puppies, ensuring immediate assistance if needed and providing a safe, sterile start to life.
Beginning at three days of age, we implement the Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) program. This protocol, often associated with the U.S. Military's Bio Sensor program, involves performing five specific, gentle exercises daily for a short period (typically 3-5 seconds each) until the puppies are sixteen days old. These exercises include tactile stimulation, thermal stimulation, and positional changes. Research and anecdotal evidence suggest that ENS can lead to improved cardiovascular performance (heart rate), stronger heartbeats, stronger adrenal glands, greater tolerance to stress, and greater resistance to disease later in life by stimulating the neurological system during a critical early developmental window.
Environmental enrichment and early housetraining principles are introduced starting at two weeks of age. At this stage, puppies are still primarily focused on nursing and sleeping, but they begin to move around more and are capable of crawling away from their immediate sleeping area to eliminate. We introduce designated litter pan areas, lined with pine pellets, placed away from their primary sleeping and nursing area. This leverages their natural instinct to keep their den clean and begins to establish the concept of eliminating in a specific location, which is a foundational step for later housetraining.
Hand-raising puppies is a dedicated process that involves providing exceptional care and socialization from an early age. This method not only enhances the puppies’ health and well-being but also prepares them for their future roles as beloved family pets.
Puppies are hand-whelped indoors to maintain a sterile environment that minimizes exposure to pathogens and ensures the health and safety of both the mother and her puppies. This controlled setting allows for close monitoring of the birthing process and immediate care for the newborns. Beginning at three days old, early neurological stimulation is implemented. ENS involves exposing puppies to various stimuli, which can enhance their neurological development. This practice is based on research indicating that early experiences can positively affect behavior, stress tolerance, and overall adaptability in later life. Litter pan training begins at two weeks of age. By four weeks, most puppies are successfully using the litter pan consistently. This early training facilitates a smoother transition to outdoor potty training when they move to their new homes, as they have already learned basic elimination habits. By the time they reach 5 weeks of age, they are introduced to crate training, which helps them become accustomed to a safe and secure resting space. At six weeks, basic commands such as “sit” and “stay” are introduced. Teaching these commands early fosters good behavior and strengthens the bond between the puppy and its owner.
Leash training is introduced at seven weeks of age. Early leash training helps puppies learn how to walk properly on a leash, which is essential for their safety during walks and outings with their owners.
The combination of these practices ensures that puppies develop into well-adjusted dogs ready for integration into their new families. Introducing puppies to car rides from an early age is essential for their development and comfort around vehicles. This process helps ensure that they do not develop fear or anxiety associated with traveling in cars, which can be a common issue if not addressed properly. Furthermore, the puppies are dewormed at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks old to ensure optimal health and prevent any potential parasitic infestations. As part of their comprehensive healthcare regimen, they also receive their first vaccination during this period.

From birth, each puppy begins Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and sensory training to build confidence and adaptability. We take pride in ensuring our puppies are extremely well-socialized, giving them the best foundation for success in their future homes and roles.
We take health seriously — all of our breeding dogs complete extensive essential and supplemental Labrador-specific DNA testing, along with OFA certifications for hips, elbows, eyes, and heart. Through responsible breeding practices, health testing, and early development, we’re committed to making a lasting, positive impact on the future of the Labrador Retriever.
We are dedicated to upholding breed standards in our breeding practices. Each planned litter is approached with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that we adhere to the established guidelines that define the characteristics and qualities of the breed. Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.
How do you socialize your puppies?
Each of our puppies are hand raised indoors until the day they go to their new homes. They are welped in our bedroom to ensure they have around the clock care and attention. At 2 weeks they begin noise sensory training that includes typical everyday household noises including but not limited to TVs, vacuum, other dogs, family members etc. Nail trimmings and litter pan training also begin at 2 weeks. Our puppies are exposed to a variety of surfaces, toys, and novelty items to help them with their fear/recovery response and increase their enrichment.
What does our new puppy come home with?
Puppies go home with their AKC paperwork , litter certificate, vet records as well as a blanket that smells like mama and littermates. Our puppies are dewormed 4X and have their first vaccinations and vet checks before going to their new home. Puppies begin the process of litter pan training at 2 weeks so by the time they go home at 8 weeks most are completely litter pan trained. Puppies are also extremely well socialized and desensitized. Our relationship with puppy buyers doesn't end at pick up, we are always here to offer support to new families.
How do we apply for a puppy from PNW Labradors?
You contact us and we will email you an application. Once an application is received it will be reviewed. We may ask for additional screening questions to make sure our puppies are placed in their perfect homes. After an application is accepted you will be notified and be asked to place a deposit to reserve a puppy. Once a deposit is placed that puppy will be reserved for you and your family. Puppy updates and photos are sent out at least once a week! Communication is always open here, please feel free to call/text/email with any questions you may have. You are now a part of our family and we value that.
What is the price of a puppy?
Due to the rising costs associated with veterinary services, vaccinations, puppy food, and other essential supplies, we find it necessary to implement a slight increase in our prices. This decision has not been made lightly; rather, it reflects the current economic landscape affecting the pet care industry. Puppies are $2000 regardless of color or gender.
How do deposits work?
To secure a reservation for a puppy, a non-refundable deposit of $400 is required. This deposit serves to hold your selected puppy until it is ready to go to its new home. The payment can be made using various platforms for your convenience, including PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable except in the specific circumstance where the mother dog does not get pregnant. In such cases, the full amount of the deposit will be refunded to you.
Can I meet the puppies ahead of time?
We completely understand the excitement! However, we do not offer in-person visits before the official pickup day. This decision is made with the health and well-being of the puppies and our family in mind.
At such a young age, the puppies have not yet received their vaccinations, making them highly vulnerable to illness. Even well-meaning visitors can unknowingly carry in germs or viruses on their clothing or shoes, which could have serious consequences for the litter.
Additionally, we are a small, family-based breeder and our days are fully dedicated to caring for the puppies and maintaining a peaceful, low-stress environment for them. Regular visits would not only disrupt this balance but also affect the privacy and routine of our household.
To ensure you still feel connected and confident, we provide regular photo and video updates, and we're happy to schedule FaceTime or video calls so you can see your puppy growing and developing in real time.
Our babies are adopted quickly, so reach out to reserve your furever friend or to ask any questions.
